Richard Nixon was graduated from Duke University Law School and was the 37th president of the United States. He was married to Patricia Ryan and they had two daughters, Julie and Patricia.On August 9, 1974 Richard Nixon resigned due to a scandal caused by the break in at the Watergate Hotel in Washington, DC. The hotel was the location of the Democratic Party Headquarters in 1972.
A security guard cought some burglars breaking into the hotel. Some of the burglars had ties to people in Nixton administration, and president Nixton tried to minimize the damage to his administration. The investigations uncovered many unethical and illegal activities by people very close to the president. Since the president lost lots of political support he then himself covered it up. Nixton chose to resign the presidency rather than face certain impeachment.
Yes it was a dramatical time in the US history and a very shameful event for the President. He will always be remembered for this incident which they call the Watergate scandal.
